France reinforces safety

The French Nuclear Safety Authority, ASN, announced 26 June that it has issued 32 resolutions each setting some 30 additional requirements for EDF nuclear power plants, areva facilities and some CEA reactors. "The steps taken will lead to a significant increase in safety margins beyond their design basis," ASN said, adding that they entail "the deployment of human resources and expertise on a large scale."
