The UK government has confirmed that its preferred policy for managing the country's 84 tonnes of civil plutonium is reuse as MOX fuel for civil reactors (see pi 6). Australia's ruling Labor Party has voted to approve prime minister Julia Gillard's proposal to end Australia's ban on uranium exports to India. However, it may take a number of years to develop the necessary legal framework, officials said.
