Areva & EdF unveil UK EPR design for public comment

Areva and EdF have unveiled, for public comment, details of the European Pressurised-water Reactor (EPR) unit design they are proposing for possible new build in the UK. Details of the design are given in Professor Barre's article in this edition of Nuclear Future and on a new EdF-Areva website {www.epr-reactor.co.uk). The website will allow members of the public to comment on the design before the joint regulators - the Health and Safety Executive and the Environment Agency - make a final decision on whether it meets required safety standards.
