STEM flowers in West

Four years ago Bedminster Down School was selected to be part of the Future Brunels project sponsored by the SS Great Britain. This annually-run project involves a selection procedure that allows the project to identify three young people from each of the four participating schools who have the potential to become the Brunels of the future. They are then given a mentor and a support network is created around them. The project aims to support them through to university and potentially beyond. It has served to inspire other children in the school into STEM-related subjects with those involved recounting tales of what they have done. The reputation of Science and Maths as exciting subjects to follow has been enhanced greatly within the school.
