Olkiluoto 3: highest requirements for safety tests and inspections

In Finland, construction of the European pressurised-water reactor (EPR) Olkiluoto 3, which is at present the largest-capacity generation 3 nuclear power plant, is underway. Along with the list of major milestones that need to be passed before the plant starts operating, the leak-tightness of its reactor building containment must be verified. The measuring instruments used for this purpose, their actuation and the test set-up must, therefore, comply with the highest requirements set by the nuclear safety authorities and parties involved. In February this year, TUEV SUED successfully supported the completion of the reactor containment leak-tightness test, the first of its kind on an EPR worldwide.
