"I am greatly honoured to be here tonight and humbled to receive this accolade from my peers for that is the JL greatest honour of all. But I accept it on behalf of all those who I have been fortunate enough to work with - especially the professional nuclear engineers and scientists who work tirelessly to ensure that this country can benefit from the safe secure use of nuclear power. "I acknowledge the tremendous help I had from colleagues when responding to the demands of Fukushima, in providing advice to the highest levels of Government, producing an independent report on lessons for the UK industry and the work I did in Japan. "It is perhaps most opportune at this time to discuss the future of nuclear energy, for you are at a cusp of opportunity and challenge. The opportunities are clear.
