New research centre providing the nuclear experts of the future

An initiative at the National Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) Workington Laboratory has brought a fresh approach to the way that the nuclear industry interacts with the research community, promoting academic and engineering excellence while bringing social value to local communities and the environmental benefits of a significant contribution to decommissioning and remediation techniques. The Centre for Innovative Nuclear Decommissioning (CINDe) - an initiative led by NNL with the universities of Manchester, Liverpool, Lancaster and Cumbria as well as Sellafield Ltd - was opened in September 2018 by Sue Hayman, then MP for Workington and Shadow Environment Secretary.
