Time Differentiation of Images by Two-Wave Interaction

摘要

Two-wave interaction is investigated in a dynamic holographic medium with local response. The wave reflected form the boundary of the medium is used as one of the interacting waves. It is demonstrated that, when the analyzed image is employed for modulating the intensity of a monochromatic wave incident on the medium or for the incoherent illumination, the intensity of a lower-intensity wave is very sensitive to image variations. The direct transfer of the phase modulation of the pumping wave to the signal wave, which is the main characteristic feature of this interaction mechanism, is investigated.
