Respecting the Dead

The crash of commerce secretary ron brown's plane into a Croatian mountainside and the deaths of all aboard—air force personnel, business people, gov-eminent workers and a reporter—has generated much national conversation, mostly of a positive kind. It is interesting how a sudden, unforeseen, calamitous event like this can alter people's perspectives and clarify thoughts that had just been tumbling around not even fully acknowledged, let alone explored.
