Once a month, in one or an-other of those trendy California restaurants with minor portions and major prices, the princes of Silicon Valley get together for what amounts to a kind of "Gong Show" for would-be entrepreneurs. The investors call themselves the "Band of Angels," and with good reason: if they like your plan, you can walk out the door with more start-up capital than you need. If they don't, you just plain walk out the door. At a gathering in August last year, the Angels heard an unusual pitch from Bill Bradley.
