As usual the games were big and loud. At the Electronic Entertainment Expo, a multimedia trade show held in Los Angeles this month, the Nintendo booth seemed more like a small city; the Sega and Sony PlayStation booths turned the L.A. Convention Center's South Hall into what looked like the insides of a huge pinball machine. Not to be outdone, Hollywood studios' interactive divisions constructed elaborate sets to display their wares. A rain forest occupied part of Viacom New Media's 8,000-square-foot booth as it previewed its CD-ROM game based on the Michael Crichton novel and upcoming Paramount film "Congo." Across the room at Disney Interactive, an eight-foot-high Haycorn tree advertised a new "Winnie the Pooh" CD-ROM storybook.
