NATIVITY OF THE JEWS

Mary and joseph were probably thrilled to have a little son. When a baby is born to Jewish parents, the child brings hope for future life. A birth is a miraculous moment, since every Jewish parent knows their baby might be the Messiah. But a Jewish education is required to shape a Jewish life. The birth of a Jewish child is the birth of an added education for the parents as well, who must recall the lessons of the past. Teaching is about more than that: parents must also convey that children should create new expressions of Judaism and not simply live off inherited traditions.
