Blattschaeden und -krankheiten der Rosskastanie (Aesculus hippocastanum L.) - Schadsymptome und Differentialdiagnose

The article presents the most often encountered leaf diseases and disorders of Horse chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum L.). Conspicuous leaf necroses in spring and early summer can be caused by different factors. At present, the damage caused by the Horse chestnut leaf miner, Cameraria ohridella, is in the focus of interest. However, the diagnosis of leaf damage is made difficult by the possible presence of different biotic and abiotic agents such as leaf miners, necroses by the fungus Guignardia aesculi and damage caused by de-icing salt. The disease development and symptoms of the most important diseases and disorders are presented here in color pictures and text in order to avoid the possibility of confusion.
