Haloclean ― Thermisch-chemisches Recycling von Elektronikschrott

Within the scope of a European project named Haloclean, a recycling process based on a dual-stage thermal-chemical treatment pilot plant of two gas tight rotary kilns has been developed to transfer halogen containing materials like WEEE into "clean" "fuels and residues for noble metal recovery. Fractions to be treated are printed high and low value circuit boards, mobile phones, housing fractions from computers and TV-sets as well as production failure materials. To recover materials from the liquid pyrolysis products the ITC-TAB developed a post-treatment procedure for recovery of HBr from flame retardants realizing a pyrolysis oil quality suitable for methanol synthesis processes.
