A Day in the Life of the Little River Branch

I was rostered as fireman on Train 177, returning as Train 122, from Christchurch to Little River on Tuesday, 20 January 1961. As all the stations and goods sheds on this line were being repainted and some other maintenance was being done, I reasoned that the branch would soon be closing, as this was a good way to push up the operating costs to provide a good reason to do so. With this in mind I thought that I should take my camera with me to record a bit of history on the line.
