Two dams, with an intermediate channel in-between, are arranged between river banks. A gate or divider is in the intermediate channel. In operation, a river stream flows into one dam, and is divided into two streams by the gate or divider. One stream is branched out to e.g. a basin, while the other stream flows back to the river bed by the other dam.
