The Ferrymead Heritage Park hosted a "Military Event" over the recent three-day Anzac Weekend. For Canterbury Railway Society members proceedings began in the early hours of Friday, April 25 2014, lighting up W192 and assembling a train to run empty from Moorhouse to Ferrymead for a dawn departure from there. The task was to convey guests (supporters and sponsors of the public event weekend) from the Ferrymead car park to Moorhouse for a short, private, early-morning ceremony and dedication in the Square. The activities to come included a wide range of military and Anzac displays, and the theatre of mock battles in various parts of the park.
