It is now just on 10 years since Richard Clarke, now chief executive of the SkyCity Breakers, sat down and wrote a 'newspaper article' set in the future. Clarke, who was then general manager, wrote a vision for the then struggling club and painted a picture of the Breakers winning in front of a sold-out crowd. It described how successful they were as a club, in the community, as a franchise and in building a development pathway for youth. It talked of full stadiums for games and of the club being a trusted brand that New Zealanders were proud of.
