摘要

As she expertly scaled limb after limb of the pine tree near her home in suburban Upper Montclair, New Jersey, a teenage Anne LaBastille could not have known how her life's work would ignite passion in others for the earth's wild places and wildlife. She used her tree to escape cello lessons, read, and dream of pioneer life in the wilderness. A shy, lonely child, she could not have foreseen how she would inspire courage in others, or envision how much she would contribute to protecting the treasured natural resources of the Adirondacks, Latin America and beyond.
