Delivery: Bringing the Words into the World

摘要

As part of an argument in favour of using the five canons of classical rhetoric as a foundation for poetry-writing instruction, I discuss applications of the fifth canon, delivery. First, I summarise and discuss delivery in the rhetorical tradition, approaches to teaching delivery in composition studies and poetry's oral tradition. Then I analyse a student poem that was written primarily to be heard out loud. Finally, I offer 23 practical classroom applications of my research.
