Over the years I have written a lot of reviews about a large number of books that I have hoped were interesting to the readership of the Police News. Sometimes I wandered off into topics that I feel passionate about but I always return to books that I am told by a surprising number of people are the most interesting and enjoyable. On this occasion I will say, without fear of contradiction that A Centenary of Rugby League is by a country mile the best book I have ever had the pleasure to review. I know objectivity is not my strong suit, although my lack of balance does often generate some interesting letters to the editor.rnLet's not beat around the bush. A Centenary of Rugby League by Ian Heads and David Middleton is many, many things. If you love your footy, like all true Aussies do, this book will blow your mind. This book is not only beautiful - not a word often used when talking about rugby league - it is seductive and absolutely and completely the most magnificent story about our truly Australian game.
