A mouse grown from an egg at its most primitive stage of development could one day spell hope for millions of infertile women. The technique, pioneered by em-bryologists in the US, could enable doctors to grow hundreds of eggs from an infertile woman undergoing in vitro fertilisation. Current techniques rely on hormones to stimulate egg production and can result in as few as 10 eggs being produced.
