Warty pigs adorning cave may be oldest art of its kind

CAVE paintings found in Indonesia include depictions of animals dating back at least 45,000 years, making them possibly the world's oldest. The pictures of three pigs were discovered in the Leang Tedongnge cave on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi by Adam Brumm at Griffith University, Australia, and his team. "It's one of the most spectacular and well-preserved figurative animal paintings known from the whole region and it just immediately blew me away," says Brumm. Sulawesi is known for some of the world's oldest cave art, but the new paintings may predate all other examples found there so far.
