If you are a mathematician the world is your oyster. Your subject and its many techniques can apply to a huge range of human activities. It's strange, but you hardly ever see a job advertised that says "mathematician wanted". But then, although your initial training was in mathematics your role may be as an operational researcher, analyst, teacher, researcher, statistician, accountant or actuary, to name but a few of the occupations in which mathematicians feature strongly.
