Such is its importance that our eyes and brains have become exquisitely tuned to this light, and all its shades. Yet today, we find ourselves spending more and more of our time working indoors, in offices, warehouses and factories, under strips of artificial sun. For the designers of those artificial suns, the challenge is to emulate and tame the natural light we prefer. Fortunately, advances in technology mean it is now possible to manipulate the lighting of our surroundings in ways that mimic sunlight, so that it benefits everyone.
