Brain zap triggers pizza chef vision

Call it brain travel. A 22-year-old man has been transported to his family's pizzeria just by having his brain stimulated. Pierre Megevand at the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research in Manhasset, New York, and his colleagues wanted to find out where in the brain we hold information about places. They recorded activity from electrodes implanted in the man's brain - placed there to treat epilepsy - as he looked at images of objects and scenes. A specific area of the cortex responded to images of places, but not to images of other kinds of objects.
