AN UBER self-driving car has struck and killed a pedestrian in Tempe, Arizona. The accident happened on 18 March and is the first reported pedestrian fatality due to a self-driving vehicle. Tempe police said 49-year-old Elaine Herzberg was crossing the road outside a pedestrian crossing at around 10 pm when she was struck by the car. which was driving in autonomous mode. The vehicle was travelling at roughly 65 kilometres an hour and did not appear to slow down as it approached the woman.
