Most channels upbeat on new Sky EPG

Teachers' TV this week said that it would call on Ofcom to give public-sector television channels a special status, following its failure to secure a changed position on the Sky Digital electronic programme guide (EPG). The channel, which broadcasts programmes about the National Curriculum and other education-related subjects, complained to the regulator after it was moved to the "Specialist" section of the EPG, sandwiched between pornography on one side and dating and gaming on the other. It had previously been in the documentary section until BSkyB introduced wholesale changes that were intended to help users navigate the ever-increasing array of digital channels. Ofcom last week ruled that BSkyB had complied with its EPG code and closed the case.
