The European Commission called for radio spectrum not needed by mobile operators and that freed by digital switchover to be made available to other businesses. It also repeated its call for a single European market for frequency allocation. Endemol, the television producer being sold by Spanish telecommunications operator Telefonica, has attracted the interest of Italian conglomerate De Agostini, according to local reports. Italian broadcaster Mediaset is also interested in Endemol, which recently reacquired its French operation, removing the last obstacle to a sale.
