Rai, Mediaset Might Quit Sky Italia

Italy's two leading terrestrial broadcasters suggested last week that they might leave the Sky Italia satellite platform when they launch their own "freesat" service. Rai and Mediaset, together with third-placed terrestrial broadcaster Telecom Italia Media, last week announced that their Tivu free-to-air platform would launch in June. Speaking at a Rome conference on digital television, Mediaset president Fedele Confalonieri said: "Maybe we made a mistake to give Sky our channels, as the highest audience on satellite are registered by both the Mediaset and Rai channels".
