Britain's biggest mobile crane lowered into place a 35m span bowstring arch bridge over Shoreditch High Street last weekend as part of the main package of works on the East London Line (ELL). It is the first of three new bridges being installed on the route by the Balfour Beatty/ Carillion joint venture and steelwork fabricator Fairfield Mabey as part of the ￡363M main works package to deliver Transport for London's ￡1bn upgrade of the line, which will see it run from West Croydon in South London to Dalston in the north.
