Train smashes into bridge brought down by lorry

A footbridge collapse which caused a commuter train derailment in Leicestershire last Friday was caused by a lorry driver failing to lower his tipper after delivering ballast, Network Rail confirmed this week. The 06.13 Nottingham to Norwich train service came of the tracks after striking the collapsed footbridge at 6.33am at Barrow-upon-Soar near Loughborough in Leicestershire.
