Atkin's UK arm struggles

Atkins chief executive Keith Clarke has denied that its UK-based staff face a further round of job cuts despite the "difficult" home market leading to a drop in revenue and profits. Clarke was speaking after his firm reported a drop in UK revenues to £926.5M for the year ending 31 March 2011. This was £57M down on last year's £983.5M. UK operating profit was £61.4M, down from £ 77.3M in 2010. UK staff numbers dropped by 7.2% over the year from 10,387 to 9,460.
