Greening Richmond, USA: a sustainable urban drainage demonstration project

摘要

This paper describes a unique sustainable urban drainage demonstration project at the Science Museum of Virginia in Richmond, USA. The retrofitted scheme includes bio-retention, planter trenches, permeable pavement and a vegetated roof. A description of the comprehensive monitoring programme and a summary of performance are also presented. A review of the various infrastructure solutions to reduce combined sewer overflows is provided, as well as a discussion on the invaluable demonstration potential of the site.
