In this Special Issue the Naval Engineers Journal Focuses On Designing the Environmentally Sound Ship

摘要

Protection of the marine environment has become a fundamental consideration for our profession, that of naval and marine engineering and naval architecture. Therefore, it is incumbent upon we, as the technical community, to provide ship owners and operators with ships that have been designed to be environmentally sound in their construction, operation, and disposal - throughout their entire life cycle. Simple economics shows that across the life cycle those ships with a smaller environmental footprint are far cheaper to own and operate.
