Asne Day 2007 State Of The Society Address

Members of the American Society of Naval Engineers, I am pleased to report to you a significant improvement in the State of the Society from one year ago. While we still anticipate a deficit for fiscal year 2007, we have drastically reduced our expected losses in comparison with the previous year and will come close to a balanced budget. Thanks to tremendous symposia results, we have had almost a continuous positive cash flow month to month and will start fiscal year 2008 in a stronger position than a year ago. The Society was also audited for the first time in a number of years, and I can report to you that we received a clean audit letter. Our $188,000 loss in fiscal year 2006 has been almost eliminated this year due to completing one of the most successful symposia seasons we have had where every symposium conducted came in better than budget, with the exception of one that was slightly below budget.
