RADM Tom Eccles, Chief Engineer (SEA 05), presented his vision for developing new capabilities along with sustaining the ships during the current United Status federal budgetary uncertainty. The Admiral laid out his strategy of preserving the might of the U.S. Navy. He discussed the value of a more rapid transitioning of technology to the fleet, integration of modularity in the development of future capabilities, the importance of continuing to develop new weapon technology such as the Solid State Laser and Railgun, and the benefits of diversification of platforms that can reside with a ship.
