The Commercialization of Weapons Control Software

摘要

This paper addresses the benefits and limitations of commercial software insertion into a weapons control system, specifically as seen in develop- ment of the Advanced Tomahawk Weapons Control System (ATWCS) Track Control Group Replacement (TCGR). Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS)/Government-Off-The-Shelf (GOTS) re-use of software in a weapons control system requires a much higher degree of reliability and a much smaller error rate than commercial applications, in order to reliably place ordnance on target.
