Wooden Ship Construction Notes and Observations: Deck Planking

摘要

This article is the result of over forty-five years of full-time study and research into the methods used to construct traditional wooden ships; a project was undertaken to provide accurate information for the creation of my ship models. As my study deepened, I learned to rely as much as possible on primary source material. This included archaeological remains of the ships, original drafts, and letters, as well as old contemporary models. The ship itself is, of course, the ultimate authority, and we need to do much more to insure that major new discoveries of shipwrecks are properly researched and documented.
