In addition to being one of the most popular tourists spots in Japan, Shizuoka is also making a name for itself as a destination for researchers aiming to forge their own path in world-class life science. The Pharma Valley Project in Shizuoka Prefecture is rightly proud of its pharmaceutical and medical device companies, but even these are not the whole story. Integral to the project's ongoing success are regional academic partners such as the University of Shizuoka and National Institute of Genetics, who produce some of the local expertise that has made the project so successful.
