Oxford University, in partnership with the Hospital for Tropical Diseases and the Wellcome Trust, are seeking an exceptional individual to become the next Director of the Oxford University Clinical Research Unit (OUCRU-VN) and Wellcome Trust Major Overseas Programme in Viet Nam. This opportunity has arisen as a result of the current Director, Professor Jeremy Farrar, leaving to become the Director of the Wellcome Trust from 1st October 2013. The Viet Nam Research Unit, established in 1991 in Ho Chi Minh City and 2006 in Hanoi, forms a significant part of the Centre for Tropical Medicine at the University of Oxford, which is a collection of research groups within the Nuffield Department of Clinical Medicine. The OUCRU-VN's integrated clinical scientific research focus is on the most significant infectious diseases in Viet Nam, many of which are also among the greatest threats to global health in the 21st century. Capacity building, public engagement and policy dialogue are all integral to the activities of the Unit. The research programme extends across Asia and has significant collaborations in Africa and South America.
