Lost in translation

The Swiss psychiatrist Eugen Bleuler is perhaps best known for coining the term 'schizophrenia' more than a century ago. But he also paved the way to understanding the disordered language that characterizes schizophrenia. Certain quotes from patients have since been enshrined in the medical literature as classic examples of the types of language dysfunction that typify schizophrenia. Two quotes continue to echo through time decades after being uttered by patients.
