Over the past 20 years dendrochronology has developed into one of the most important methods for the reconstruction and dating of past events. Archeologists and historians use it for dating wooden artifacts, buildings, and settlements. Tree-ring sequences also allow the reconstruction of geomorphological and climatological processes. Dendrochronologists attempt to answer the question of whether anthropogenic deposition from the past 200 years is already affecting tree growth and climate globally.
