WA puts national OHS in doubt

The Western Australian (WA) government has put in doubt the long-term future of nationally harmonised OHS laws.rnAlthough most of the recommendations from the National Review into Model OHS Laws were endorsed at the May meeting of the Workplace Relations Ministerial Council (WRMC), the WA Government, the only non-Labor government, said it cannot support the introduction of standards that are inferior to its existing state scheme.rn"At this stage, we are not committing to a system that we are not convinced is in the best interest of WA workers and businesses," said WA Commerce Minister Troy Buswell. However, he said WA would continue its dialogue with the WRMC.
