OVER THE last two decades, we have witnessed an unprecedented technological advance in nanotechnology. By engineering at quantum-realm scales, devices and material performances can be optimized within a single characteristic wavelength of an electron wave or optical wave to reach their ultimate potential, which is limited only by the laws of physics. As such, products and services based on nanotechnology, as well as the nano-manufacturing technology that produces them, are becoming increasingly important to our economy.
