About Dr. Weisher

Dr. Weisher has had a most interesting life. He was diagnosed mentally retarded while in the eighth grade and was placed in special education classes. Little was known about dyslexia in those days and so it was by great will and effort that he overcame much of his disability and embarrassment. It was a high school principal (Mr. Charles Rathbun) that discovered he was solving all the geometry questions for math students in the ninth grade. He then invited himself to his parent's home for dinner and refused to leave unless David promised to become an engineer. While in college, rather than studying his core subjects in engineering, he was often found in the library learning the Acadian language so he could read ancient Assyrian cuneiform clay tablets. He became an aerospace engineer and helped develop the flight computers for the F-14 Tomcat and B-1 Bomber. He was also a mixed-gas and saturation deep-sea diver, experienced in bell diving as well as underwater welding and plastic explosives for the deep-water oil industries.
