Last November, a month before my birthday, my wife asked, "What do you want to do for your 38th?" Here was my opportunity, I thought, to do what I had wanted for the last five years: drive to Vegas in a luxury car, enjoy a tasty dinner, see the Cirque du Soleil Beatles show "LOVE" (I'm a big fan of the Fab Four), and stay at a swanky hotel. Knowing the wife likes Vegas about as much as I like root canals, I knew this was my one shot. She reluctantly accepted, with a request of her own: "Can Amy and Don join us? You and Don can talk baseball and cars, and Amy and I can talk other stuff."
