It was built from 1989 through 1996, but the good looks and spirited performance of the Banker 300 Fiesta Vee express cruiser make it a favorite among families who do serious cruising today. Kim Slocum, the president of Rinker Boats, says the company built approximately 150 of these affordably priced cruisers every year and powered most of them with twin MerCruiser 5.7L sterndrives. "We used Alpha outdrives at first, which would produce a cruising speed near 21 knots and a top-end speed in the mid-30-knot range. But when we switched to Bravo IIs, the boat cruised in the mid-20s and maxed out in the low 40s." Slocum says Merc's Bravo III outdrives were also available starting around 1993. They were most popular with owners who carried plenty of gear and guests aboard.
