There is a famous scene at the end of the film, "The Wizard of Oz" when the good witch Glinda says to a despairing Dorothy, "Why, you've had the power to go home all along." Then she points at the ruby slippers still on Dorothy's feet after the incredible struggle she and her friends have gone through. The scene is an ironic and powerful metaphor for the fact that so many of us have talents and abilities that are clearly visible to other people, but that we don't acknowledge at all or in the proper measure.
