Technology Training Needed Now

For an industry of more than 750,000 automotive service technicians, it is remarkable that there is no officially recommended number of training hours that a professionally employed tech should take each year to keep skills sharp. The former Automotive Service Council (ASC) organization did recommend a minimum of 36 hours a year - but that was 20 years ago and there was never any enforcement. At about the same time the Mobile Air Conditioning Society (MACS) Worldwide followed up with an 18 hours per year recommendation for air conditioning-specific training, but no enforcement.
